Azzam-Gomez Family "Aspira" Scholarship

The Azzam-Gomez “Aspira” Family Scholarship was created by Shady Azzam-Gomez, Vice President of Information Technology/Chief Information Officer at Suffolk County Community College to support a student who is challenged economically and in need of financial support to attend the college on a full-time basis.

Criteria:
3.0 Minimum GPA
Enrolled with a minimum of 12 Credits
Essay of no more than 250 words explaining how the applicant will benefit from receiving this scholarship.
Must have financial difficulty and not meet federal residency eligibility requirements, lack documentation required to qualify for state or federal financial aid, OR are in the legal process of obtaining US residency and/or citizenship

Award Amount: $5,000 ($2,500 Fall and $2,500 in Spring).
Recipient has an option to renew the award after completing their first academic year as long as minimum requirements for scholarship eligibility are met. Students with financial difficulties who do not meet federal residency eligibility requirements, lack documentation required to qualify for state and or federal financial aid (filing of a FAFSA), OR are in the legal process of obtaining United States residency and/or citizenship are encouraged to apply.
