Long Island Hospitality Association Scholarship for NEW Students
Awarded to: Full-time or Part-time students
Award: $3000 (four awards)
Distribution of scholarship:
The full scholarship is $3,000. The students selected will receive $1,500 their first semester (fall) and the other half, $1,500, after they have registered for their final semester and applied for graduation in the AAS Culinary Arts or Baking and Pastry Arts programs.
Criteria:
1. Must be a first semester student in AAS Culinary Arts or AAS Baking and Pastry Arts.
2. Strong preference given to a student who is employed in the food service industry. If awarded this scholarship, you will need to submit a verification letter from your employer.
3. High school GPA of 75 or better. To receive the second half of the scholarship in your last semester, you must have a 3.0 GPA and apply for graduation in Culinary Arts or Baking and Pastry Arts.
4. It is expected that the recipient of this scholarship become an active member of the Culinary Baking Club starting their first semester and continuing through their final semester. Club advisor will verify participation.
5. One letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or Guidance Counselor.
6. One letter of recommendation from a SCCC faculty required for the second disbursement of scholarship in student’s last semester
7. Must be a resident of Suffolk County or Nassau County
