Henry A. Gilbert Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in American Sign Language (ASL)

The Gilbert Fund Committee of the Suffolk Community College Foundation established this scholarship in support of students in the American sign Language Studies Program at Suffolk County Community College, with the goal of assisting deaf, hard-of-hearing students and those experiencing communication disorders.

Awarded to: Full-time or Part-time CONTINUING students college-wide
Award: Varies up to $14,000 for full-time students and up to $9,000 for part-time students. This scholarship provides support over and above the student’s financial aid awards and other resources, ensuring a full-tuition, fees, and cost of attendance award.

Criteria:
1. Enrolled in the American Sign Language Studies Program (ASL)
2. Essay of 300 words or less on what has motivated you to study ASL.
3. GPA of 2.75 or better
