Get There From Here Scholarship for NEW Students

The Get There From Here Scholarship Program was designed to promote academic excellence and provide an opportunity for outstanding students to reach their highest potential.
For NEW and CONTINUING students – there are separate applications for each cohort.

Awarded to: Full-time NEW students
Award: Up to $6500 annual award split between fall and spring semesters (multiple awards)
Eligible to receive the scholarship for up to five semesters until you graduate as long as criteria are met.

Eligibility:

1. Submit two letters of recommendation from academic or educational contacts (teachers, counselors, coaches, etc.)
2. Submit a copy of your unofficial transcript from your high school or most recent college (for transfer students) which should reflect your ability to successfully complete college level work.
3. Submit two essays on the following topics (up to 400 words each):
a. Recount a challenge, setback, or failure you have faced. How did it affect you, and what have you learned from the experience?
b. Why have you chosen your field of study and what are your future plans and goals?

Program Requirements:
Awarded scholars must:
1. Be enrolled full-time (12 or more credits per semester).
2. Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
3. Volunteer for a minimum of 10 hours per semester at an approved agency/non-profit organization.
4. Participate in at least six College service events per year and publicly represent the SCC Foundation and/or the College’s student body when asked to do so.
5. Have a current FAFSA on file if able to do so.
6. Meet periodically with the GTFH Program Coordinator.
