Rosalie Sillitti Memorial Scholarship

Created in memory of Rosalie Sillitti (Class of 1986) to support the aspirations of the non-traditional or returning student who possesses a curious mind and an indomitable spirit and who is inspired to attend college after being out of school for ten years or more.

Awarded to: Full-time or Part-time NEW student or student returning to Suffolk County Community College after an extended period of time of 10 years or more
Award: $500 (one award)

Criteria:
1. Non-traditional or returning student who is enrolling in college after a minimum of 10 years out of school (subsequent to high school or last college attendance) where time away from school was, at least in part, spent raising a child or caring for a parent(s)
2. High school GPA of 83 (3.0) or if a returning student, a minimum GPA of 3.0 in last year of college attendance
3. Provide an essay of 250 to 500 words: 1) Describe the obstacles faced and the reasons why you did not directly pursue post-secondary education or complete such education; 2) Explain what inspired you to continue your education at this time, after having been out of school for 10 years or more; and 3) Explain how this scholarship will assist you in overcoming challenges you may face while pursuing your academic and career goals.
